Easy fast?
August 14, 2005Hope you guys are having an easy fast…. Mine was OK… Still have a huge headache..
This morning I got a ride and went to daven and hear Rabbi Leff speak in Moshav Mattisyahu. He is the rabbi from Florida who’s kehilla sent him to israel as a gift… He made aliya after being there for a few weeks.
He is a great speaker and said some very nice divrie torah moxed in with stories of hasgocha pratis and ahavas yisroel.
One thing that bothered me was that driving to the Moshav… Israel for the most part looked like business as usual. Unlike shabbos where you only see your community… Today I saw that many don’t know about tisha b’av… Kind of shocking. Its not a holiday where companies give the day off like pesach or succos… Dissapointing.. considering the churban took place just down the highway…
well, it WAS nice to see the shul and the basement was packed.
I saw my cousing and saw my brother in law’s brothers there as well. SO it was nice to see some familiar faces.
Shabbos I davened at Aish Kodesh. ALot smaller than the one in Woodmere. I think the coatroom in woodmere’s aish is bigger than the shul here..
But here we can drink…
After davening there was a kiddush and a guy makes kiddush in his house… herring, scotch… good stuff.
I also learned that news of my basketball playing cousins’ arrival in making the rounds. My cousin Zanvy grauman is going to learn in a yeshiva in Ramat Beit Shemesh… so We’ll see some more familiar faces…
Its a growing area, RBS.. New developements, new yeshivas.. a new seminary..
Well, I think I rambled enough…
tommorrow.. I hope to sign up for health insurance… and shave…
