not in T-errem-ble pain

September 4, 2005

The shoulder, after going to Terem last night for xrays is NOT broken.
Terem for those taking score. Is a emergency clinic.. Minor emergencies , x-rays, stiches, etc they handle. More than that they send to the hospital.
Doctor applebaum who was killed with his daughter in 2003 right before her wedding, was the one who set these terem’s up to handle more emergencies. So instead of always running to jerusalem to the hospital, most can be handled locally.
His picture is on the wall.
The TEREM in our region is in Beit Shemesh about 12 minutes away. One of the guys from shul drove in front of our car. Tamar was looked at as well, as she has a small infection on her foot. SOme antibiotics were prescibed for her and some painkillers for me. The doctor said, its not broken.. but have it looked at in a few days by a doctor if the pain doesnt go away, as he handed the Xrays to us. We got there approx 30 minutes after shabbos and were see right away, as we were waiting for the doctor and the xrays, the waiting room filled up.. to about 15 people. When you leave you get a printout of what your “problem” is.. it either tells you what the problem is or it says “You are transferred to the hospital” I’m not sure if you need this type of referral or not.
This morning, I had to have some help putting on my tephillin. If the shoulder is stationary, in a sling., I’m ok.. Once I have to raise it or move it… OUCH.
But… Things were put in prespective a few minutes ago.
MY co workers asked about my shoulder and I told them it was from football.
One of the guys next to me, says he has 2 dislocated shoulders from the army and has shrapnel still in his back from the Yom Kippur war. And how he was driving shells to the airplanes, when a mig dropped a bomb in the truck. He still managed to drive it off the runway so other planes would still be able to land and take off… he then jumped off the truck before it exploded.
Football injuries don’t garner the sympathy in Israel like they do back home.
After the football game friday, we went to the pool in Nes harim. Yoni and Moshe spent most of their time by the water slides there.
One had a big drop.
The other was a more winding slide.
It was very “israeli”.
Meaning, if you weighed more than 50 pounds… you stopped 3/4 of the way down and had to propel yourself the rest of the way with your hands.
Unless, you found the perfect balance to distribute your body weight evently so you could make it down.
I was a guy …. HUGE… he had to propel himself down the whole way… some ride.
The funniest part was the little boy running arounf with no clothes.
There was no nearby changing room. SO the charedi boys and a few men, would go in the corners to change.
One father was either too busy or lazy to put a suit on his 2 year old.
A few minutes later, as we were leaving I looked down and saw this little boy left a nice package on the deck..
Not number 1 either.
The father had to come and clean it up.
As my brother yossi said… it was like that golf movie…
CADDYSHACK. and it was a baby ruth bar.
I skipped the pudding on shabbos.
Shabbos was very nice despite the shoulder pain.
We ate shabbos lunch at Mendy Newman. Abe Newman’s son,
We told him about the cake that was sent to us. He demanded we bring it over and he LOVED it.
It is chocolate cake. With chocolate on top. More chocolate inside and more between the layers.
MUD Cake as he referred to it.
That is SOME cake, thanks again…
Well, you know what today is… SUNDAY.
You guys will be davening at 8 and playing softball or relaxing.
I got up at 5 and I’m at work.
But I was debating which is better… to be off Friday or sunday?
I think Friday has an advantage because the kids have school for a few hours, so you REALLY get some quiet time.
Sundays some kids have school, some don’t.
Any opinions, guys?
Well, Ive jinxed the METS again. from .5 games out to 3.5 games out.
well, I’m going to do dome work… enjoy the long weekend off!
