Stop Wining…..

September 11, 2005

EVEN If you don’t listen to anything I ever say….or perhaps you never did.. PLEASE listen to this..
If you are in Israel and see a bottle of wine for 17.90 shekel… that has a twist off cap.. PLEASE DO NOT SERVE IT WHEN YOU HAVE QUESTS….
(17.90 shekel which is around 4 dollars… not going to be a good situation).
I had to bring a corkscrew out and make a POP sound… you know the kind where you put your pointer finger in the side of your mouth… and pull it out…
Ok, try it now… I’ll wait..

Besides that…. It was nice having company…
(besides that… as in… well, besides that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the show… or Besides that, Mrs. Kennedy how did you like the parade)..
If anyone sees buchsbaum, Tell him regards from Efraim Schneider.
I davened in a new place shabbos morning. A new shul going up which currently davens in the basement … (like other shuls here).
Huge shul, with few people. Its nice to daven without people sitting on you. Not unlike the Green room minyan where people sit on you even though there is plenty of space…
Not a particularly friendly place.. This shul is “yeshivish Israeli” As opposed to israeli or american yeshivish.. etc.
If anyone sees Abe Newman, His son gave the Daf on shabbos pinch hitting for the regular guy who wsnt feeling well.. or.. He didn’t want to talk about the movoi gemora…
Last night mozoi shabbos was fantastic!
Rabbi Leff spoke sponsored by blev echad. THe program that I mentioned last time. He is just an amazing speaker and knows how to mix in humor with his talks.
I heard he gives shiurim online.. either with NCSY… or somewhere.. I urge you to look him up online and hear him speak.
It was nice to see that many different types of “ramat beis shemeshers” were present. The speech was in Beis Tefillah (very american yeshivish) but people from all over were there.
I felt good that I knew alot of people. Neighbors, Yaacov lazar, who just made aliya, guys from my yeshiva in queens.. and my brother Dovid was there as well. WE don’t daven in the same place on shabbos so I wasn’t sure if he knew about the speech.
After the speech, there was a melave malkah at Aish Kodesh, The shul I’ve been going to most of the time.
There was a guy on guitar, violin, hand drums… and the place was rocking.
People singing and dancing yeshivish, students, serugi, etc. Everyone was really having a great time.. It was a great contrast to the shmooze from a few minutes earlier. THe rabbi, Rav Shapiro, the Piasessner, spoke…. the lights were off except a few candles… it was great. I left early because 11:30 Sat. night for me means: got to wake up in 5 hours…
As I walked in the shul I noticed a familiar face. Rabbi Marcus was sitting in the back.
He came by himself as apparently he is a fan of the Rav.
He was happy to see me and was happy that I chose this shul.
After a few minutes ..my brother walked in… and joined right in with the singing and dancing.
Today, Sunday is opening day for Penina at the ulpan.
After she drops Tamar off at Gan, she is heading to Ulpan.
I am signed up for a tel aviv gan, sunday and tuesday, but I have a balloon gig in Ramat Beit Shemesh later this afternoon… So I’ll be going Tuesday to my opening day at Ulpan.
well, I’ll sign off and start working.
Enjoy the day off…sob.. sob… Its ok.. I dont miss the late shachris.. sob..sob… or the baseball games…sob..sob..
Or the BBQ with real meat…sob..
Later,
Yudie
P.S. PLease do not make any rude comments to My father in law and his new white kippa seruga.
