Crossing the Lyne

October 2, 2005

Good morning.
Its a regular workday… the last until thursday.
Erev Rosh hashana is an off day for everybody around here.
Its also the day for the “Rosh Hashanah Toast”.
Not sure what that is.. but YOU’LL know soon enough.
We ate by a family we just met. Ennis.
They came from Nof Ayalon and moved to Ramat Beit Shemesh… and they wish they were back.
It’s too American here.
Oh well.
As the days go by our circles are starting to get bigger and bigger. Which is good for us. Its not easy going to a new place where most speak Hebrew, so when you meet an anglo family that made aliya it gives you strength that you can MAKE it.
Dovid got “pulled” into a new minyan that started yesterday.
Nisuch Ari / Lubavitch.
His neighbor organized it and he figured:
1. The guy asked him to help make the minyan.
2. Its close by.
3. Its in a “gan” so there are toys nearby.
4. The seats are free.

I told him, good luck not my speed.
After a call from the shul organizer… I’m the ba’al Koreh form the yomim naroim and for shabbos mincha. I guess news from the Green Room Minyan from the past years didn’t reach here yet.
Not sure if I should daven there, or go to my place and just come for layning.
In preparation for the upcoming fast days… I’ve stopped the regular coffee as of this morning, so I should be a pleasure to work with over the next day or so.
Penina has already started working on the “simanim”. Seems like alot of people here go to town aquiring all the simanim. Fish heads, gaurds, red beets, dates.. and some other things which I’m sure won’t taste good, but I’ll have to eat.
I heard my sephardic neighbor has a LAMB head… I HAVE to try that.
well, I’m going to log off. I have to prepare the layning and do the daf at my desk today.
Enjoy your day!
U.D.
