Shana Tova….
October 3, 2005Well, I found out what a Rosh Hashana Toast is.
I guess the jewish version of a christmas party…
The company gave out boxes of chocolates or cookies to the employees.
Being a Kablan, Consultant, I didn’t get one.
But our department had a small party for the consultants.
Wine and Honey cake.
It was nice that our manager thought of us.
There are three consultants in our area, so they went out and bought it.
It may have been the first time that he bought Badatz cake…
I found it difficult to work after downing three cups of Gamla.
Then I went to the company party.
It had wine of course and.
Apples.
Candy apples.
Apple strudle.
Some apple and nut sugar thingee.
Tishbee was the wine. Very good.
I was not able to learn the Daf in the car going home, due the dizziness I got from the wines.
Today was an off day.
Here the “erevs” are like off days.
My job today wasn’t Technical writing, but rather it was “keeping the kids away from the house”
Yoni had his tutor.
Michal had a succos project so she was gone.
I took Moshe and Tamar to the park and then to Pizza.
A neighbor wanted to know why I was in the sun with my kids..
I told then its healthier for them being in the sun then getting in Penina’s way at home.
After Yoni, Moshe and I biked down to the mikveh.
IT took longer getting back, as it was mostly uphill.
I just got a call from Jeffrey Goldbrab who is at Reishit for the year.
He got out umber from Jessy Slater. Jeffrey is learning 3 different gemoras… impressive for a first year beis medrash guy. He says the yeshiva and learning is awesome.
A little while back I gave instructions to my cousin Zanvy who took time out of his busy social schedule to accept an invitation to The seudah tonight. He’s bringing two other yeshiva boys with him.
Its a different feeling here in Israel.
Everyone is walking faster…. last minute preparations… getting ready for rosh hashana.
People have already started putting up succos. On our corner there is a guy selling succa panels, schach…etc..
Actually I think everyone here has a guy on his corner selling succa panels and misc. Succa supplies.
I can imagine its going to get very interesting around here.
Penina did most of the work Sunday, so its not as hectic here. She spent mst of today cleaning.
We’ve been through several cleaning ladies. Today Michal was recruited to clean, sweep, and mop the basement floor.
In Israel the seats in the shuls are actually comperable to the US. HERE though its alot of money bec,. people don’t make alot.
In Aish Kodesh they are asking for 1000 shekel for 2 seats and 100 for each additional seat.
The rebbi stresses that he isn’ t even “asking” its almost optional.
If you can’t afford or can only pay a piece of it, its ok with him.
Its actually the first year that a price is even talked about. The rebbi doesn’t want anyone to feel like they are preasured by the price at all.
For those who have been at Aish Kodesh, it is usually jam packed.. so they have expanded the shul.
An addition on the left side for men.
The addition on the right for women.
The room in the back for both.
(my idea).
Oh on a side note…
We have a meeting regarding the Ramat Shlomo developement..
We’ve been trying to act ‘’not interested”.. Using the best poker faces we have… in the hopes of bringing the price down.
We hope to come as a group of 5 or 6 families and get a better price.
If anyone is interested… I can give some information…
well, I’m going to sign off.
shana tova and a healthy new year to all.
We all miss you and We hope to see you HERE soon.
U.D.
