Dr. Demento would be proud…
October 6, 2005Happy new year!
Shana Tova.
Hopefully, this will be THE year where we see the Geulah Shelaima!!!
Apparently I picked a good time erev Yom tov to go to the mikve.
When I told dovid it was crowded bec. there were 20 people there.
He said that was nothing. When he went there were 20 people IN THE MIKVA.
I beg your pardon but… (insert joke here).
The layning was flawless.
I didn’t layn.
The ba’al tefilla layned so I got the hook.
Ein Baya.
The davening was very nice.
Alot of singing. Not fast. Not slow.
Just right.
The best part was the mussaf of the first day…. a Carlebach Mussaf.
We had zanvy, our cousin for the first night’s seudah. He brought 2 of his friends.
It was a long meal….
He first couldn’t find the house.
Then we had all the simanim thanks to Penina who canvassed the area for: leeks, black eye peas, Gourds, dates, pomegranets, carrots… and of course… your favorite rosh hashana treat……and mine..
Fish Head.
hmmm.
Only zany was man enough of the three to try it with me.
I played Rosh Hashana Fear Factor and kept up our Tradition by grossing everyone by eating the eyeball.
I did one better the next night.
We went to a neighbor for the New fruit and heard they had ..
SHEEP HEAD.
It looks like a skull with some meat.
yup, it looked as good as it sounds.
I had a piece but turned down the ear.
too eerie for me.
I brought the head back home and only sara baila’s friend had a piece.
Zehava, Dovid’s daughter, a dentist in the making was more interested in the teeth of the sheep as she proceeded to do an extraction and pulled out three teeth. Charming child. I think that is how my brother in law, Aaron, started in dentistry.
A special Mazel tov to the Daf yomi people as Shabbos concludes today…
Also a special thank you to Mendy Newman, Abe’s son, who saved my bacon yesterday at the daf yomi shiur.
Yoni went to the daf due to a mix up of the mincha times.
He walked in on the gemora that talks about the Mazel to each day of the week that a person is born.
He was listening for his day, Tuesday.
Thankfully Mendy newman said the Mazel for people born on Tuesday is wealth and “being Sneaky” and didn’t say promiscuous.
Whew.
Close one.
I would have had to have “that” talk with yoni…years early.
Before ma’ariv last night we had a drasha by R’ gedaliah Hochberg. A Kamenitz Alumni, who looks anything but kamenitz. Big yamulka, Bushy Beard…
I sent him regards from Dave Korn.
Seems like Korn knows more people in Ramat Beit Shemesh than I do.
But I’m staying anyway.
Have a easy and fast Fast.
U.D.
