October 11, 2005Despite the kids exhaustion from getting up at 3:30 yesterday, we brought the gang to kapporas. Everyone chickened outholding the chicken. Except me.
There looked like there was a huge line, but as it turned out. It was just women with their kids who came to see the chickens.
A makeshift chicken coop was there and this was apparently cheaper than going to a zoo or farm.
I think there may be a lack of entertainment in the area.
Last week in the Mercaz of Ramat Beit Shemesh I noticed a crowd gathering outside one of the stores. I looked up and saw…. A man on a crane 15 feet up in the air changing a store sign.
There must have been 50 people watchnig this.
Back to the chickens..
After waving the Male chicken around yoni, Moshe and myself.
I was given 3 chickens to wave around Penina , Michal, and a screaming tamar’s head.
Around the second wave… a “something” came out of the chicken and landed on penina’s shirt.
We’re not sure if it was poop or spit… either way. It was quite amusing.
In the car Moshe wanted to know why we did kaporas. I told him about tzedakah and about the chicken taking the “fall” in exchange for us.
Then he wanted to know why we WAVE the chickens.
Yoni offered, “The people that did an averah, the chickens poop on”….hmmmm… not bad..
SO if a chicken poops on you, you know you have alot of davening to do.
Does anyone have a better answer?
I’d like to know.
Well, woke up this morning, turned on the computer and the yankees were down 5-2.
They lost a little while later 5-3.

Once in a while you see email postings of people looking to listen or watch the NFL games..
but thats it.
People, even the anglos, follow Soccer. Where the Israeli team failed to qualify for the World Cup.

Michal was up at 6AM this morning as she is too excited about seeing her aunt and cousin from the states later on today.
Dovid is picking them up at 3:30 today.
